04.09.2008 | The KZ OtsM to upgrade smelting equipment

In September 2008, as of the machinery re-equipment plan the upgrade of the induction electrosmelting furnace ILK-1,6 No1 in the workshop No1 will be completed. The furnace will be equipped with technological characteristics measurement and control computer system: melt temperature during ingot smelting, temperature of water in crystallizing dish, pressure and consumption of cooling water, speed of smelting.

The mini-screen of the automatic system enables the furnace operator to observe the smelting process in form of graphics and values from building-up to ingot drawing. The furnace operator can immediately trace and react to the deviations in the core indices, and control the smelting process by adjusting the required characteristics. The shift foreman and production manager can access this information in the real-time through their computers and check if the ingot drawing technology process meets the required standards.

The purpose of the re-equipment is to increase production quality and improve the smelting technology control system. It is planned to have all smelting furnaces equipped with technology characteristics computer systems in 2011.

The new equipment is installed by the plant’s experts and JSC “PP Ekon”, Kirovo-Chepetsk, Kirov Region.
